1 Timothy Chapter 4 (Moved from Webpage)

This weeks Bible Study was on Chapter 4 in First Timothy. Paul starts out to Timothy that people are going to fall away from the faith. Paul write in verse 1-3,

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
According to Paul, false prophet are preaching a gospel that forbids marriage or certain foods. My guess is what was wrote about was being taught by false teachers during Paul's ministry. But this goes along with what Christ said in Matthew 7:15-20. Matthew wrote that Christ said, "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them." These False prophets are trying to get people to join there religion making look like Christian. They make their fruit look like good fruit but it is from thorns. How do we found out if the fruit is good or bad? Well let take some advice from John in 1 John 4:1-3, "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world." Test them with the word of God. If they do something thing that is considered sin in the Bible then that would not be a good religion.
